On Oct 3rd, 2023 the German Ocean Foundation invited to the ceremonial opening of the Ocean Science Multimedia Exhibition on the Museum Ship San Diego in Hamburg. It was the first and still the only public event in the context of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. Under the patronage of H.E. Lorenzo Ravano, Ambassador of the Principality of Monaco to Germany, many distinguished guests attended that event. Ambassadors from all over the world draw attention to the pressing challenges facing the sea and support the role of society, politics, science and business in realising sustainable projects. The exhibition’s focus lies on future oriented approaches to solutions for more sustainable use of the ocean. We all know the huge problem with plastic garbage, lost fishing nets and all the other trash. Many organisations try to solve this problem with cleansing on and in the waters. They need the support from all of us to be succesful in keeping our oceans alive.
